The couple behind Pixie Mood
Kelvin & Chloe both worked 9 – 5 jobs before they started Pixie Mood. Chloe's love for fashion, art, colour and textiles led her to pursue her dream of having her own handbag brand. She gathers ideas and design inspiration from around the world, from the unlikeliest of places, and put them into actuality. Kelvin, who graduated from Ryerson University with a Business Management major, has always dreamed of being an entrepreneur running his own company. They took a leap of faith to bring each other’s dream into reality with Pixie Mood.
Vegan Leather
The type of vegan leather that is used for Pixie Mood pieces is Poly urethane (PU-leather), which is different from lower grade synthetic leathers such as vinyl or PVC. PU-leather has a much less harmful impact on the planet compared to vinyl or PVC, is a lot softer and does not crack in the harsh winter weather like other synthetic leathers would. Pixie Mood is an expression of our love for fashion, creativity, and the world.
What does "ethical fashion" mean to you?
Ethical fashion to us means trying our best to have a positive impact and minimize the negative footprints we have on the environment, animals, workers, and the world in general.
I understand that you use high quality materials in your products like vegan leather and cork. How do you select the materials that you use in your pieces?
We travel to markets across the world and find inspiration in the most unexpected things like furniture, stationary, clothing, etc. We also make sure that those materials are durable, and are suitable for our product line.
What types of materials should consumers be wary about when purchasing fashion pieces?
Look for pieces that don't only look good, but feel good when you wear it. The weight of a handbag is something I look for in a handbag, I try to avoid using heavy handbags. Materials such as vegan leather and cork are all very light-weight as compared to leather.
If everyone could make one change or do one thing in order to reduce the impact of our fashion-related consumption habits, what would that be?
Always try to buy fashion pieces that are made with cruelty-free materials!

Explore at your own pace and have variety - try out different recipes and restaurants.
